Also is it more like a hotel card or an airline card?
It is a hotel loyalty cc for the SPG brand which include low end hotels like Four Points, mid-tier like Sheraton, Westin, W, Aloft, highier tier like St. Regis, Le Meridien and Luxury Collection Boutique Hotels (Prince De Galle in Paris for example). By staying at the brand and using SPG cc, you would get more points, otherwise it's 1 point per dollar.
SPG points like other posters stated are valuable for their 25% bonus on every 20K points transferred and they have the most transfer partners of any cc transfer programs (MR, UR, TY, and Diner's). SPG has 30 transfer partners vs. other programs having only 10 - 23.
Also, SPG is the lowest AF ($65) airline transfer program cc available.
Because I was an SPG member, I received an invite for their 30K sign up promotion earlier than public offering last May. Usually the higher sign up bonus offer comes around end of summer but last year, they had this offer in June.

Generally speaking the SPG is fot wealthy people who spend a lot of money and/or people who stay at fancy hotels.
The card has no category bonus at places like grocery stores, gas stations etc. you earn 1 point everywhere. So the only way to rack up the points is to put a huge spend or to stay at starwood hotels.
Now, yes you can get great value out of SPG points by staying at fancy hotels, but i think most middle class people would prefer to get more nights at a mid tier or budget friendly hotel instead.
I would suggest you get the starwood card for the bonus, splurge on a nice hotel stay and then cancel. For a primary spend card use something else
I think that you opinion is very valuable.. I never got the marriot (i think i can get instant approve) card because i feel that i usually wont stay in expensive hotel like that.. thanks for pointint it out!!

I think SPG card is most valuable when you can trasnfer to one of their airline partners. I still think they do if you transfer 20k miles you get 25k miles is that still the case?

+1
I don't know why Amex would have a problem now if he's been in with them for years unless he had some new baddies on his report.
The garden is right this way.

We havent traveled as much in the last year because of my injury and recovery.
That is not indicative of lack of future travel.
Also, yes I had a new negative show up on my EX/EQ but it is an OLD ghost which is set to Vanish in January.
I see. Was it the BoA charge off or something else?
