citi bank used to be pretty good to me, I consistently had balance transfer and flex loan offers. many times, they were consistently emailing me offers to convert to double cash/diamond/etc card.
everything dried up after May 2021. in May I initiated a cli from citibank to my current limit. around the same time in May, I churned a citi bank checking account bonus and closed the account (but >181 days).
did I upset citibank?
I was doing some planning for early 2022 and I might have a use for a short term flex loan or balance transfer again, but no offers. \o/
admittedly, I've only used the account twice in the past 18 months. before that I used the flex loan and paid it off within the same month. years ago, I carried some balance transfers direct-to-checking account and eventually paid them off. currently, my scores are all ~800 and overall util is <6%.
as of now this card has no use to me without the previous offers. I'm thinking of asking for a pc to the custom cash card and use that for grocery. 5% is better than the 3% I've been getting from my more rewards amex and grocery is my highest spend (but <$500 monthly).
I'm not a travel or heavy dine out person. Costco doesn't really help me as I'm living kind of simple at the moment. any other citi offerings I might consider?
9/2022 $30000 | 8/2020 $20000 | 12/2018 $30000 | 8/2016 $30000 | 3/2016 $21000 | 5/2014 $20000 | 10/2007 $8900 |
Did a PC for my Simplicity to Custom Cash. Use my 5% for restaurants.
If you PIF and do not plan to use the simplicity benefits (no late fee, low APR, BT, etc), I also suggest to PC it to custom cash (or DC).
Sounds like the 5% Back on groceries is for you with the Custom Cash. Let us know if you try to PC.
I switched from Simplicity to Custom Cash last week, after 5 months of Citi pestering me to do so. Constant mailers plus a reminder screen on log in several times per week. Supposedly the deadline was December 31, although I'm not sure they would have enforced that.
This was my first product change. I had no idea the card number remained the same. Also it went much quicker than I expected. I accepted the offer late on the 18th and within a couple of days my online account already carried the new name.
However, the switch also carried a new look to the website. That happened simultaneous to the first time I had Custom Cash and not Simplicity. Maybe it was coincidence. Regardless, I despise the new look. Change for the sake of change. Considerably less pleasing to the eye, at least on laptop. I realize all of the changes like that are designed for mobile, which I never use.
BTW, Simplicity surprisingly continued to offer goodies like balance transfers, right up until the day I switched. I had offers on both the Double Cash and Simplicity cards, with the bottom line on Simplicity vastly superior.
I'll probably be all over the map with 5% high category on Custom Cash, from groceries to gas to home improvement to travel to whatever category a cable bill counts as.

I don't think my Custom Cash will code a cable bill as 5%. If it does, I'd be happy.
Custom Cash as a destination from Simplicity is a good choice. I PC'd from the no-AF American Airlines card as two AA miles for groceries was no longer enticing.
made the call this morning and they initiated the product change to custom cash. card will be the same number and arriving in 7-14 days.
the change appeared on the website minutes after ending the call. it is indeed more busy than the interface for simplicity, I'm not sure I like it either.
when reading me all the terms & conditions removed/added, agent stated I had until Feb to cancel the change. so when I asked when I started earning rewards, now, when I receive the card, or after the Feb date, he said when I receive the card. can anyone confirm this?

Your card is now a Custom Cash and you will begin to earn the rewards now. The February date is the last day to change your mind and revert back to Simplicity. After that date passes, your card is not able to go back to the old terms. That is standard with Citibank.
Congrats to the new Custom Cash card. It is a good card to have.
It is strange that Citi gives a date to have the feasiblity to revert back the PC change . I did a few PCs in the other banks and all the PCs looked final in the request step (BOA, Chase, Amex).
