Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
You cannot say in one breath that they are "particularly hard on the self-employed" and then say that they are not extremely conservative/strict in lending standards.
You cannot say in one breath that they do not have a clunky website, they do. (unless they changed it since the last time I logged on).
You cannot say they have excellent CSR, cause not in my experience and in most of the people's here who talk about them.
You cannot say they do not have a habit of making new members wait out a probabtion period, txjohn is still salty about that.
And they do suck like an open chest wound, and we all know how great and healthy that is to have.

I do not qualify for any military cards. My credit history is about 2.5 years old, I have: USbank 14.5K, KeyBank MC 10.5k, Amex Gold, Amex blue 2k, BVCU 2.5k, KeyBank LOC 7k. The newest account is 10mo old, no inq on EQ, EQ Fico is 745. I'm thinking of being addet as an AU to a long card, to get more length of credit history, my friend did this, he had amost the same situation and got his scores up to 780. Hi scores should give me more chance for instant pre-approvals with Alliant
You have a very good total amount of revolving CLs for a 2.5 year credit history. Congratulations.
Were you able to qualify for all of these TLs ( particularly the Key Bank LOC) without any income verification at all?

Good idea if the financial institution you're applying at uses the FICO98 method AND the card you're an AU on is in great shape.
My local credit union uses FICO2004, so being an AU wouldn't do anything all if you went with them.
From what I've been reading, the tougher credit unions (PenFed, Navy etc) would defnitely frown on any new credit within 12 months. Maybe wait until that new one ages to a year before going for one of the stickler CU's. As long as you have a great payment history, low utility on all those cards, and maybe wait until that new one ages to a year, maybe a tough CU won't be a tough one for you.
I think credit unions are great in general. Tough ones included. Just my personal opinion though.
Hi borieann,
It is my experience NFCU is not too stingy with new CLs in a short time if the newest TL you have is with them. You are correct in that when I applied for several products with NFCU they asked specifically if I had applied for credit anywhere recently and if so with whom have I applied. I asked the CSR at NFCU what is considered new to them and she responded in the last 60 to 90 days. Ones entire credit profile will make a difference to them. As always YMMV.
ETA: I had 1 new TL within 30 days and 3 within the last 90 days ( one was my Corvette car loan
)when I applied for credit with NFCU.
Unless I'm missing something, we have lost the original "SPIRIT" of the OP which was:
1. CU with good CL's
2. Least likely to request income verification docs
So, anyone got more than what I listed?
NFCU, PenFed and Addison are notorious for requesting docs (though some do occassionally get instant approvals and no request....but I don't believe this to be the majority of cases).
Alliant often offers pre-approved offers upon membership IF THE APPLICATION has no glitches at member app, and there is no issues with them pulling EQ.
PSECU pulls EX and I have not yet experienced nor heard of anyone being required to provide docs. They either approve or deny, based upon current reports. They just have a difficult FOM.
Those are the only 2 CU's that I know of that are likely to approve without docs.
Anymore CU's out there that rarely request docs?

Based on the spirit of the OP being lost, I will comment on the OP statement a CU whom "will not ask for income verification".
That is impossible for anyone to be certain of. IMHO, based on the currently economic climate it will become more rare a CU or a bank will not. One should always be prepared to supply income verification to support ones income statement on any application for credit to any financial instution.
