Before I found MF and did this app spree thingy last winter, I had only used 3 cards regularly - C1 QS WMC, Discover it, and Chase Freedom. I also had a Target card with rare use.
Now I have bunch more cards, and I have SD'd several and try to stick to 1-3 for my main spend. At some point, I'll decide to simplify again and close more accounts.
My regular drivers are AmEx BCP, Discover it (managed to finagle the Double Cashback promotion this summer), and since last month Citi DC.
I pull out the others depending on what I'm doing to maximize rewards, but those charges are often not regular. Flights through my Delta AmEx, hotels via Marriott Rewards, outdoor gear via REI, etc.
I'm not sure if this counts, but I have 3 permanent cards (SM, DC, AARP) with the rest being rotated at differing frequencies:
Before I got Discover last month I only had three cards, so it was pretty easy. Now I use Sallie Mae for gas and groceries, Discover for Amazon and general spend, due to double cash. Quicksilver picks up anything that doesn't accept Discover. Discover's double cashback has rendered my Barclay Rewards obsolete for the next year, which usually sees my cell and internet bill.

LOL. Until I moved to the PNW, I didn't shop there enough either! But, they make quite the $$$ off of me now.
I had a Corolla once - loved that car, but hated driving FWD in the snow.
