In my OWN PERSONAL view, **I** would not worry about SOL here b/c I don't see them taking you to court over $100 and $30. To me it doesn't make sense that they would........but that doesn't mean they won't.

I don't know why I ever let them get to this point other than the fact that I was broke and just trying to keep my head above water at the time.I have one from 2005 for $100 that was assigned to a collection company by a hospital. It was for emergency room services. I sent a letter to the CA requesting validation of the bill (even though I know it's valid) and requested a PFD. I received a phone call on my cell phone last week (I don't know how they got the number since I did not put it in my letter and requested that they contact me by mail only) and the woman told me they received my letter and it is impossible for them to remove anything from my credit report. All they will do is update it to show it as "paid". So, I was planning to just mail them a check and pay it but then I was reading some posts here and wonder if it is possible for them to remove it after it is paid. I went ahead and mailed them another letter yesterday and made the same request and reiterated the fact that I only want to be contacted by mail. Any suggestions?Have you contacted the hospital and asked them if they would pull the account back from the CA and allow you to pay it to them? There is also a letter out there that people are using in regards to medical, google or search here for why chat hippa (i think it is).Personally, if the OC wont work with you, I'd just continue to send them PFD. What is the CA and maybe someone has a contact for them inside the company that might help you. There is also PFB.I have another medical collection for $30.00 also from 2005 (bad year) and I sent a letter to the original creditor (the doctor's office) requesting the same - that I pay the amount if they will remove it from my CR. I just mailed it on Monday and haven't heard anything yet. This one is being reported by the CA on my CR but I thought I'd go for the OC first. What do you think?Going to OC first is always the best if you can and if they will work with you, imo. If they won't allow you to pay them and they pull it back from collections, then send DV/PFD to CA.Thanks for any advice you can give me, if there is any!
