No, I didn't misspell Fair Isaac. I also subscribe to Equifax. The past 2 weeks I've gotten 2 alerts of a soft inquiry by Fair Issac. That is the spelling that the inquiry uses. The address is the same as for Fair Isaac. I keep all 3 credit bureaus locked and only unlock them when I need to apply for a card, etc. Needless to say, they've been locked for a while. Should I be concerned that a soft pull is showing up on Equifax? And the soft inquiry is for Fair Issac, not Fair Isaac? Whenever I google the former, I get the latter.
Could this be the beginning of identity theft or fraud?
So the soft inquiry is from Fair "Issac" with two ss's instead of two aa's?
I don't know the answer to your question, but that is an extremely good eye and careful attention to detail.
Hopefully it's just a typo and not something nefarious. I think you are right to be concerned though, because minor misspellings like that are common tactics of of spammers and phishers. Will be interesting to see what you find out.
That is great question! I have been alerted to the same soft inquiry on my Equifax report. I thought it to be very weird as well. I really hope it's not identity theft. I have to keep a close on all my reports from here.
I am just like you in that all my reports are on ice until I need to obtain a card, loan, etc. This is the very reason why I do not like my reports open.
