Re: 2007-Triumphs and Disapointments

2007 Triumphs:

1. Paid off ALL debt. Right now, I have 0$ debt, I owe no one anything! I work full time and waited tables part time to get this accomplished.

2007 Disappointments:

1. My 3 lates with Sallie Mae only showed up on EX and TU, but when I disputed it back in August 07 with those bureaus, Sallie Mae put them on EQ, and my score tanked, but it is back over 700 now.

2008 Resolutions:

1. To not get into any debt.
2. To save more and invest my money so that my money can work for me for a change.
3. To get Sallie Mae to remove the lates from '05
4. To start a business
5. To only deal with Credit unions. I plan on applying for a personal card and a business card from CCCU and a personal card from my own CU and only use cards from the major issuers if they are running any 0% interest specials.
6. To keep my scores in the 700s.

Re: 2007-Triumphs and Disapointments

Peggy Fair,

Congrats on paying off all debt! What does it feel like?

I can't wait until all my Lousy Adjustable rate Private student loans are paid off

Did anyone notice that their interest rates dropped? That's one thing that has me feeling positive on the first working day of 2008

$18,000 to freedom...

Re: 2007-Triumphs and Disapointments

2007

1. Signed up for my Fico in February
2. Started reading the forum (better than any Susie Q show) in December
3. Decided it was time for a change in my life credit wise

2008

1. Put all my credit debit together and pay down every two weeks
2. Open all my mail
3. Spend what I can pay back
4. Hopefully by September have a credit score of 560 or more right now I'm at 438 :-(
5. Put tax return in bank and continue paying my debt down on a monthly basis establishing a good and stead payment history.

Thank you all so much for all the great advice...you hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday!!!!

Re: 2007-Triumphs and Disapointments

2007 Triumphs:
-Started paying all my bills on time, even if I got overdrawn at the bank
-Got a new job with 15k per year raise
-Paid all my bills on time without being overdrawn
-Found this forum in Sept
-Got 10 (and counting) collection and student loan accounts deleted from CRA's in 3 months time
-Saw score increases of EX +45pts EQ +77pts TU +76pts in 3 months time.
-Got all my fico's into the 500's

2007 Challenges:
-Can't get fraudulent CC off Fiance's CR
-Had to get the worst subprime card ever in order to get a pos TL going
-Having a hard time being patient. Our house is too small and we aren't ready to get a new one. I'm going crazy
-GW letters aren't working yet
-Have a paralizing fear of filing FCC and AG complaints for some reason.
-Have about $500 per month going out to pay family loans and credit lines that do not build my credit and should be going into savings...

2008 Goals in no particular order:
-Get fiance's credit cleaned up. (Easy, as he's in the mid to high 600's)
-PFD the last couple of collections that are due to drop after Dec 2009.
-Refi car to build credit and stop paying 20% interest to Gramma, then pay off by end of year.
-Get one more positive TL, either store cc or not-so-subprime cc
-Get all fico's to 600's
-Get married and pay for wedding and honeymoon with CASH
-Pay off all family loans and put that $500 per month in savings.
-Pay off back taxes with tax return

This was a great exercise. It feels good to look back on your accomplishments. They seem bigger when they're all lumped together like that. It will be cool to look back next year and see how many of these goals I'll be crossing off. Who knows, maybe all of them! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Re: 2007-Triumphs and Disapointments

****Triumphs!
****Found this forum in December 07
****Discovered that a lot of baddies had dropped off
****Discovered and paid off State Tax Liens in full
****Learned my Consumer Rights and what credit score is.

***Disappointments?

Honestly none, because I know a lot more than I did, and everything I view as a negative will be turned into a positive, either with time, or with disputing LOL! I'm pretty happy with where I'm at with my credit, as in I know better and will make better choices because of that.

Re: 2007-Triumphs and Disapointments

2007 Triumphs:
  • Learned a LOT about credit and debt from reading, umm, stuff, online and places
  • Lotta bad TLs gone
  • Lotta good TLs added
  • Got banned from TC and it's resellers
  • Bought a house

2007 Disappointments:

  • Could not get completely free of reported collections
  • Could not get completely free of CC debt, but heh it's for the house--and did I mention I bought a house?
  • Jennifer Garner still not returning phone calls
  • Only got banned from TC and it's resellers

2008 Goals:

  • Refi the house at a prime rate
  • Get completely CC debt free
  • All paid collections gone
  • Still scheming on that Target late
  • FICO 700 club
  • Get a stupid bottomfeeder CA dumb enough to come after me with some bogus claim that they don't validate which leads to a lawsuit in Federal court

Re: 2007-Triumphs and Disapointments

Sorry, must have hit a wrong key...

Triumphs

1.  Discovered this site
2.  Worked up the courage to really look and work on my credit
3.  Score range 684 to 692
4.  Prequalified and purchase house purchase (still working on starting date for construction, don't have final approval)
5.  Cleaned up some boo boos on reports

Could have been better
1.  Problem with  reporting 90 days late every month for 3 years on Spiegel on one (can't remember if its Experian or Equifax)report, even though I was making payments per agreement - always on time.  Agency found it was accurately reported.

This year
1. Finalize home purchase and make payments....always on time and a little extra $$$
2. Debt Management Plan paid off in July
3. Open one (or maybe two) cards...only after DMP paid off....to help rebuild
4. Be in the 700 club by end of year.
