It's one of several, and probably the one with the smallest "footprint". But as you say, it is the one owned by Mister Charlie.

Re: 2007-Triumphs and Disapointments

There have been both triumphs and disappointments in my credit
struggles this year.

I joined this forum in June 07, absolutely a triumph, and began
confronting the ugly mess on my CRs.

Thanks to all the help from my mentors here I'm definitely more
credit savvy & creditworthy.

FICOs-
Feb 07  EQ-624   EX-?     TU-?
Jun 07  EQ-659   EX-642   TU-651
Oct 07  EQ-663   EX-680   TU-700>>>>> 700!!!

Have not pulled my scores recently, prob mid Jan or Feb.

Total Revolving Credit-
Jun 07   $ 6k
Dec 07   $16k>>>>>>Increase of $10k!

OK, so I'm not sitting at the high-stakes tables with the serious
players here but I'm doing OK. Nothing wrong with mediocrity.

The FICO game is only that, a game. Not one I really want to play.
Unfortunately the 3 numbers of my score have consequences. They
can stymie me or open doors.

Thanks to what I've learned from this forum I can dabble a bit in
the game. I can at least protect myself should something fall out
of the sky. I'm not cowering in fear of what may happen. I've
become a bit empowered, and I know I can always ask for help here
if I need it.

Goal for 2008-
Get a mortgage and move into a house

(If that does not happen, scr*w it, I'm cutting the dock lines and
sailing to Panama)

Peggy Fair,

Congrats on paying off all debt! What does it feel like?

I can't wait until all my Lousy Adjustable rate Private student loans are paid off

Did anyone notice that their interest rates dropped? That's one thing that has me feeling positive on the first working day of 2008

$18,000 to freedom...

Rifleman, it feels absolutely maaaaahvalous! I knocked out about 35k in debt, 10k of which was in student loans. I feel as though the weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulders. I no longer have to budget for money to pay off bills. I waited tables part time for the past year and a half and now I can relax and breathe. In 2007 my score jumped leaps and bounds into the mid 700s, but now since Sallie Mae is reporting to all 3 bureaus, my scores are in the 720ish range. It's still all good though!

Re: 2007-Triumphs and Disapointments

Triumphs
1) Got one collection off with a simple DV.
2) EQ deleted another collection because they were reporting under a fake name that sounded like a CRA, even though they weren't.
3) Realized SOL had run by the time I pulled my reports.
4) Learned more about consumer protection laws than I ever knew before.
5) Finally convinced my husband of the importance of a budget.
6) Bought and figured out how to use Quicken to keep better track of our finances.
7) Started a savings account. Only have $100 in it so far, but it's a start.

Disappointments
1) TU and EX refuse to delete the collection that EQ did.
2) Disputed Sallie Mae showing a 90 day late when the account was in deferment and they added the late to the other 2 CRAs.
3) One CA that was only on EX started reporting to TU as well.
4) Got the dreaded "previously investigated" letter from EX.
5) Got smacked with a fraud alert by EQ.

2008 goals
1) Pay off last school loan.
2) Finally get rid of Crap 1. They're aging off in a couple months.
3) Start working on my savings goals-downpayment for a house, emergency fund, retirement, and a college fund for my daughter
4) Get scores high enough to buy a car from somewhere other than a buy here pay here.
5) Get scores up so we can buy a house at the end of the year.
6) Get rid of one particularly stubborn CA for an account that is not mine. I have a feeling they'll fold when I send my ITS outlining their violations currently at $30,000.
7) Start working on DH's credit.

Re: 2007-Triumphs and Disapointments

2007 was a year of revelation..a new awakening for me.

Triumphs:
1. Woke up from my credit coma, and became aware of what credit is, and how it effected me.
2. Went from a TU FICO score in February of 521 to 681 in July
3. Was able to have deleted 3 collections from my credit file. MAJOR accomplishment
4. Raised combined credit limits from $7k to just over $20k
5. Closed one cc that was costing me so much money to maintain
6. Discovered this forum in September, and met wonderful people, who I appreciate greatly for their cumulative knowledge, and concern for others, and the help they have given me.

Disappoints:
1. Not getting lates deleted from CR's(next month, all lates well over 1 year old...all 30 days.
2. Lower cl's on 2 of my cc's I applied for and received in October.

That's it! And I had to think long and hard on those 2. I've much to be grateful for. Thank you myFiCO friends! Smiley Happy
