30 year old debt - just contacted by a debt collector - what?!?

So, I just received a letter from Diaz & Assocs. about a debt that was 30 YEARS ago. I mean, really? i don't even think I owe this, but it was so long I don't remember.

I think this was triggered by a land purchase and move.

So, what's the procedure to get rid of these people?

@txgal73 this post should give you some good advice even though it is old. And there are plenty of other posts dealing with the same thing on the forums if you do a search for "zombie debt."

Unless the was the object of a court judgment that has been continuously renewed or the type of debt for which there is no SOL , ignore the collection agency.  It can't do a thing to you.  If you want to do something, send a cease and desist letter.
