44 accounts on file

Today I pulled my credit scores
TU-683,   EQ-712,   EX-700.  They are showing that I have 44 accounts, only seven of these accounts have a balance.  Probably two or three are paid in full, and the rest are closed or in active.  This is showing up as a may you can on my EX report. Is there any way to have the closed accounts removed? And if so will this help my score?

Re: 44 accounts on file

Having the accounts removed will not help your score-

The ding for "too many accounts" is much smaller than the positive affect of the good accounts=

Re: 44 accounts on file

How long do these accounts stay on file?  Actually I only have three credit cards that I use regularly. Store card, air mile card, General card. I was considering closing my air fare card equal as it has a $50 a year.  Maintenance fee and opening a new air fare card with no fee.  I was also considering getting a card for my automobile gas. I was thinking if I spread out my back over a few cards, it would look better than just using my general card for everything. PS my balances are, all under 8% I. and now leery about making this move be cool is of all the accounts that are shown on my file.  In your opinion, is this a good move or not?

Re: 44 accounts on file

Remains 10 years from date closed. Negative remarks remains 7 years. Don't bother removing accounts unless negative. Besides the more accounts you have showing 100% pos history can only help with lenders under a man review. Just to let you know the current model takes a few points off for over 29 accounts total. I have a personal feeling that the next FICO 08 release will change the limit of 29 accounts since times have changed, but just an opinion.
