There's no fixed timeframe. I've applied with far less than 6 months between apps but my profile is thicker and can handle it.
6 months is suggested as in some cases it's enough age for an inquiry to lose some of its impact. IIRC they lose most of their impact by 1 year so you don't have to wait for them to fall off.
