A Twist on Zombie debt...

I am new to the boards, congratulations on everyone providing great support structure to their fellow Fico Friends...

My question is: Has anyone tried to come to an agreement with a Zombie CA or OC to try an attempt on paying the debt and getting reported as current or re-opened?

Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work.

Re: A Twist on Zombie debt...

ahhhh - WHY?

Zombie debt is not legally collectable (in other words they can't sue and it is past CRTP).  The OC wrote the debt off ages ago (and got a tax break in doing so).

Re: A Twist on Zombie debt...

From one Scarlet Fico to another.....to add a positive trade line to my credit file, and second, for idealistic reasons, to pay off a debt that is, at least in part, legit..

Look forward to your answer, you and the board members have much more insight and experience than myself..

Thanks..Looking forward to posting credit scores and progress once I apply...

Re: A Twist on Zombie debt...

I was wondering the same thing as you.

I am working on my credit and helping a friend at the same time.

The oldest thing on her credit is set to come off this year and is a cc with less than $500 balance that was charged off.

I was wondering if there was any chance at contacting the CC company, paying in full and reopening the account for the age. Everything on her report will be coming off this year, apart from student loans that are in deferrment.

So this CC could help her considering it's age.
