A collector and a O/C

I recently recieved a revised, credit report from Transunion. I had disputed many items on that CR and I am a bit confused as to how an OC and a collector can be seperate items on a credit report for the same account. How does that work? Also do I need to send letters to the collectors for verification of an account? Someone please help me through this dispute process. Thanks

Re: A collector and a O/C

They do it to most of us. I had it but with first dispute all CO fell off. BUT they were all due to fall within 9 mo anyway. The CA remaimed & showed updated. I am waiting for answer to DV letters now.

It should not be right but they can & do.

Re: A collector and a O/C

I am sending a statement to the bureau to show me the exact process as to how they verified the debt. The OC is USBANK, and the CA, or so it appears as US BANK RMS CC. It appears to me as a department within the bank. In fact, I have different last activity dates as well as balances, but they are the same account. I haven't heard from these two creditors for ages. Currently, another collector, Opnium, trying to collect on this account. They are yet to be on my credit report. I did send the second CA a DV and a no Call letter. It looks as if these accounts will never fall off my credit report. Also I am going to be writing goodwill letters to creditors. Is it recommended to write them to paid off accounts, or settled accounts, that still show negative information on the credit report? My third question is that I have reasonably small debts that have gone to collects, but it appears they won't fall off until 2011. would it be wise to pay them of and request it be noted as paid in full, and the pay status changed to current?

Re: A collector and a O/C

A CA has 30 days to answer a DV. You go by the day that they receive the DV. This is why always send CMRRR.

If they do not answer within 30 days, send another letter stating that they will be in violation if they continue to report or try to collect.

If you want to pay off any CA. start with PFD.

This also has MOV if needed
