AMEX Authorized User - How to Remove from Credit Bureau Successfully??

As the Subject States, has anyone had success with getting amex to stop reporting authorized users to credit reports ? Or disputing a particular way?

Reason: I have stellar credit so I don't need the AU Tradline, it actually hurts me because it's a friends Amex Platinum that spends anywhere between 100k-200k a month and its reporting these balances to my report with the usual Credit Line of $0, really hurting my utilization as I only have around $320k in active tradlines.

I had him add me because I wanted access to Centurion Lounges but will never use the card once, nor am I responsible and only listed as an Authorized User. Really don't want to have to remove myself from the account to keep lounge access but don't want it reporting on my lines as I am not responsible for this account.

Anyone had luck and what did you do?

charge card balances don't count against your typical credit card utilization metrics so if you have 50k in credit limits, it's not all of a sudden 150k balances/50k total credit limit, it's not counted for that.

you likely should be able to dispute the reporting with the 3 CRA's and have it removed

you likely won't be able to take advantage of being an AU without allowing them to report

I'm not sure if disputing the AU's on your report will have any adverse action taken against the cardholder

I've had the same issue. Once I had my own Amex Platinum I had my friend remove me as an AU from his, but Experian still keeps reporting me as an active AU despite my disputing the information. I finally called Amex (just 15 minutes ago) and they put me through to a special department that handles credit bureau reporting. The rep was very helpful and said he would send out notices to the CRAs and the AU card would be removed from my report in 3-5 business days.

I will report back.

Good data point to have but my situation is slightly different, I don't want to remove myself from his card :\

so don't, charge card balances aren't bad

if you are going for a new loan or a credit card, and feel that reporting will be bad for your chances of getting approved, that's a different, way more complex conversation

but the charge card balance itself isn't some terrible thing that will hurt your credit drastically since it's not impacting your normal credit card utilization, the friend paying it off every month in full, it's being reported as an AU card, I wouldn't worry too much about it imo
