Hey guys!
I'm curious. If you're added as an Authorized User on an account with a higher line of credit, does that help encourage banks to give you a higher line of credit?
Example: I have cards with $1000, $2000 and $4800 limits, but I'm being added to an account with a $10,000 limit, and another that might possibly have a $15,000 limit or higher.
After being on those cards for 6-12 months, do you think it might help my existing cards get higher boosts than they may have otherwise gotten on their own with a good history?
That's all!
It wouldn't hurt. If anything, it will help to show a good history, assuming those accounts have one.

The AU accounts are unfortunately new since my boyfriend just opened them. He has a GREAT history as far as student loan and car payments, but beyond a store card has never had a *real* credit card.
Without any real cards he has scores in the high 700's, so I'm hoping this will help him go even higher too.
Awesome... he got approved for the Amex, but we don't know the limit yet. Will know when the card gets here.
Just got off the phone with a Cap 1 EO too - they're trying to convert one of my QS1 MC's into a QS Visa.
This is addictive, and every phone rep I've spoken to has been exceedingly nice!

Congrats to your boyfriend!
Can you please let me know what EO said about converting QS MC to QS Visa? My DW is also interested in getting that done.
Absolutely!
I know I asked them about "upgrading" my Quicksilver One before, but didn't even consider that it was a MC, and the regular Quicksilver was a Visa - they told me it wasn't possible.
BUT, I emailed again because I kept getting pre-qual offers in the mail for the Quicksilver Visa, but didn't want to apply/waste an inquiry if I wouldn't qualify since I just got two cards from them recently - both Quicksilver Ones. (one of them was an upgrade from a Classic Platinum.)
So I asked again if they could consider upgrading/changing one of my existing cards into the Quicksilver Visa if I was eligible, or if I would need to cancel one of those cards to have a chance of being approved.
Today on the call the (very nice!) EO told me that they'd put in a request to their partners to see if they could make that change for me... so I guess it isn't "impossible" - but it will depend on whether they find me credit worthy or not. There is a high chance I'm not though since I'm still rebuilding and have some old baddies, but I thought it was worth trying.
If not, I'll just try again later on after all of these new cards and limits start showing up on my report and I gain more of a positive history.
Mastercard Will go to World or World Elite Mastercard
Visa will go to Visa Signature
You can NOT PC a MC to a Visa or a VISA to a MC
That's what I thought too, but in my email I was very specific about getting the Quicksilver Visa.
If it was upgraded instead to a WMC, I wouldn't complain though - but the EO did state that it was a product change she was inquiring about.
Goblin, that is absolutely my goal!
The card has already been mailed out, so I'm going to add myself as an AU as soon as we can set up the online account.
Admittedly, my boyfriend is pretty much handing me full control of the card to handle as I like/as my own, so I can make sure it builds up a great history.
I'm not sure how AU's really work on the backend, but I'm hoping Amex sees how well the card is being handled and will be more likely to extend a branch to me when my own credit scores get better - and that the high limit on the two AU's I'm being added to will help prompt my (own) existing limits to get raised in competition.
