Acct in collections with no information provided??

Wow I've been doing a lot of reading and just decided to pull my full report. I have another question already, I'm sure it won't be my last today Smiley Happy

Other than the mess I'm dealing with with my old university, I've got a few reports on there as a collections with a date last active of June and July of 2005. But, all the information other than the dates and the amount says 'not reported.'

Collection on debt to: Not Reported

The collection agency "702y*****" was hired to collect a debt of $459 originally owed to "Not Reported" on account number "XXXXXXXXXXXX****".

Date assigned  Mar 01, 2006
Date reported  Feb 01, 2007
Date last active  Jun 01, 2005

Account number  XXXXXXXXXXXX****

You need to pull your reports from the CRA themselves. You can get 1 free per year from each at www.annualcreditreport.com

Or you can call the CRA and sit on hold half your warm sunny spring day and ask the CSR that answers the phone after being transferred 10 or 15 times.

I would get the actual CR, and if it isn't listed correctly on there, dispute it. By law, debts must be accurately and completely reported. The only exception are medical collections--the name of the entity in that case can be redacted to protect patient privacy.

I'll have to pull an actual copy of the credit report, but if it is a medical situation, how would I find out in the event that all that information is blocked for protection purposes? I don't want to have to call every single hospital I've ever been to in the past few years Smiley Tongue
