Achieved 850 on All 3 Credit Reports

As of today, I finally achieved the coveted 850 score on all 3 credit reports.  I remember when I was excited to get that score for one bureau back in 2016 or so.  It was an exciting feeling than and an even more exciting feeling now as I tried to crack the code for so many years.

I wanted to post this for anyone that feels like it's not possible or is discouraged.  I had terrible credit and went on the credit boards (including this one) to figure out how to improve my credit many years ago.  I finally got all of the negatives off of my credit and then starting working toward reducing my utilization and number of newly opened accounts.  I wish my old profile was still on here so you could see my postings but I was just told they delete the accounts after a year of not being used.

I will say that the process was actually enjoyable.  I did have many ups and downs but I treated it like a game.  MyFico even asked me to participate in their research back in 2016 when I achieved an 850, on one bureau.

My next goal is to be debt free by the end of the year which I feel is achievable.  After that, I will open a couple of accounts to get some 0% interest cards so I can make some purchases.

If you have any questions at all for me, I would be more than happy to answer!

Congratulations...I would frame the screenshot of your perfect triple 850...lol. There are still "experts" that say that a perfect FICO score in unattainable, which I always found to be a statement without foundation. I'm in the mid 800's, and that is more than enough for me, but I still get the urge to get to that promised land, even if the benefits aren't really any better, just as an achievement goal.

That is really awesome! Debt free is a great feeling, too. Let us know when you reach that milestone so we can welcome you into the club. (The 850 club is probably more exclusive, though)

Why not debt free and 850? It can be done - with EX Fico 8 and EX Fico 9. Not sure about EQ and TU.

Is there a debt free club thread? I suspect not on MyFico. Debt free since 11/2020.

Sure. Never said they both couldn't be achieved. I just think more people achieve debt free status over 850 status, hence the more exclusive comment. Debt free AND 850 is probably even more rare.

By my definition, anyone who says a perfect Fico 8 (or Fico 9) score of 850 is not possible lacks expertise.

At one time Experian made available Fico 9, Fico 8, Fico score 3, Fico score 2 and VantageScore 3.0 tables from their database showing score by population percentile. About 1.5% of the scoreable population had an 850 in the table for EX Fico 8.

Data from the CRAs do show that an 850 is not possible with the older Fico versions (EQ  score 5, TU score 4 and EX score 2) used for mortgages. Those models have real world max scores of 818, 839 and 844, respectively.

Getting back to Fico 8, Industry option scores of 900 are rare but achievable. So far no one on these forums has reported a trifecta of 900s across all 3 CRAs for either the Auto or BC versions.

Re: Achieved 850 on All 3 Credit Reports

In my personal experience, I have been able to achieve FICO8 850's across the board many times over the years.  However, I have not been able to do this since becoming debt free.  My triple 850's were all achieved while having an open mortgage.  Once I had no open loans (just credit cards), I have only been able to achieve 850 on Experian while 850 on TU and EQ have been out of reach since then.  Perhaps if I can stop applying for new cards for more than a couple years?
