Adding Extra Fees????

Can someone give some insight to this?

CA # 1 hired  CA # 2(who is a law office by the way) to collect a debt from me. Well the original amount from the OC is $1083.00. Don't have all the money yet, going to DV CA #1 to see what happens. Then offer a PFD. Well I get the letter from the law office today and they have added an extra $298.40. Is this legal? DOLA is July of 04. Old CC acct from US Bank. Should I continue with my original plan as it seems that are trying to scare me into paying by getting a law group to send me a collection notice.

Also, has anyone heard of these two companies? Experience?

Re: Adding Extra Fees????

More than likely the extra amount is the attorneys fees and collections fees.  Plus any other fees they want to tack on. Standard Practice.

Brammy,

Thanks for the response. Do you think I should still go with my original plan. DV and PFD CA #1?

Re: Adding Extra Fees????

DV is a very good idea. DV the two of them, CA1 and CA2. Also inquire if they are authorized to collect in your state. Ask fr their licensed or registration.

Goodluck!

Re: Adding Extra Fees????

TVH,

I sent two DV's out today to both CA's CMRRR. I can not wait to see what happens, because I have proof that they re-age this account on my TU report. DOLA is July 2004 is on EQ and EX. But it is listed that DOLA is July of 07 on TU. July of 07 is when they brought this debt. This is re-aging correct? I really doubt if they take this crap to court, but I will file an counter suit for illegal re-aging if they do. I will keep everyone posted!!!
