Adding Old Accounts to Reports

Hi,
After gathering all three reports, I find that several of my good accounts have been delete.  I understand that they may be deleted do to age. But Have anyone had success in getting good accounts added to reports?  If so, what steps did you take!

Re: Adding Old Accounts to Reports

"Paid as agreed" accounts should remain on your CR for 10 years after the date of last activity. I also had good accounts deleted before that 10 years at both EX and TU, because banks did not verify information on closed accounts when credit reporting agency (CRA) did a "full update."

Yes, I was able to get some of the old accounts restored by contacting the creditor. I found it was a waste of time trying to get the CRAs to restore them.

This is what I did....

First, if you still have an old credit report from the CRA that has the accounts in question listed, the address to write to each creditor via snail mail is the one listed with the account. If you have no address, you will need to find one for the credit reporting department of your creditor(s) by calling, or maybe someone here can help.

Be very pleasant in your letter, as they have no legal obligation to re-report the accounts!

In the letter, supply your name (exactly as it was on the account), address, former address if you moved in the last 2 years, home phone, SSN and the account number and the date you opened account. Explain the account was dropped prematurely from your credit report and state you would greatly appreciate if they report it to a specific, or all 3 CRAs. SIGN the letter.

In the mailing, also include enlarged photocopies of your driver's license AND your SS card to establish your identity.

In my experience, it took from one to four weeks to get a response and no creditor refused to re-report an old account.

I've never had EQ prematurely delete any of my accounts. What happened to me is TU deleted 4 of my old "paid as agreed" accounts. Then, within about 2 weeks, those same 4 accounts disappeared from my EX report.

If you are at 90 days, I would say it's not going to happen. Are you trying to get EQ to restore deleted accounts without asking the creditor to do so yourself?

I've never heard of a 'refresh'. Did you just get lucky on a good account re-dating, or is this a tool we can all use? Do tell!

I have the luck of one incredible old account lingering. It was my first credit card, an Amex 27 years ago. It got lost in the mail and was replaced with a new card and account new number. The replacement account went down in my BK, but the original account number (never used) has reported "paid as agreed" since 1980! It shows DOLA as 2003 at 2 CRAs and 2001 at the other.

Re: Adding Old Accounts to Reports

I called EQ- they said call the creditor-

The creditor said "no Problem" and within a few days I saw the refreshed reported date on TU and EX

I recieved a letter from the old lender a few days letter confirming they re-sent the data to all 3 CRA's.

Still nadda on EQ.

I have Report from Aug 06 with it on it- I never disputed the account.

A mortgage I had for 3 years with perfect payments-

Re: Adding Old Accounts to Reports

I also have an old (15 year old) closed account in good standing which is lingering (knock on wood), but I would prefer it linger to all three credit reporting agencies and not just one. Should I leave it alone, or can I make the request to report it?

Re: Adding Old Accounts to Reports

I think its just Equifax being so slow, they have not updated one of my accounts since March! TU and EX are well ahead of them!

Re: Adding Old Accounts to Reports

How do you dispute a new collection being changed as your oldest account? National Credit Adjusters/International Finance SE was added as my mothers oldest account and they were recently added as a new collection last month. This has screwed her avg account and history! She previously had a 12 yr history and a avg age of 4 yrs! NOT anymore!
