Advice on Disputing Balances

I have paid three credit cards down past 20%.  EX has the new amounts and my credit score went up 35 pts.  (yeah me!)

The other two TU and EQ are not reporting the new balances.  (no change in score Smiley Sad)

Is it okay to dispute the accounts in order to get them to verify and report the new balances, making my score go up for them as well.

Any advice would be great.  Thanks.

Re: Advice on Disputing Balances

Actually I was in the same situation, i made a  payment on my credit cards and the credit agencies were not reporting the correct balances. I called equifax Monday and i just got a score alert of a 7 point increase, transuion is still investigating, and my experian went up 14 points. So yes, i would dispute as the balance being reported incorrectly. I am going to pay one of my credit cards balance down to zero at the end of this month to see what kind of increase i will get as well.

I would say yes to disputing, or call the OC and see if they could update your reports.

Re: Advice on Disputing Balances

I am definitely going to do that.  But my good news was short lived.  I was so excited about my score alert (from True credit).

Then I read about the FAKO v. FICO and decided it would be worth it to get my scores.  Can you say ruin my Valentines Day.

TU is 50 points lower on FICO
EX is 50 points lower (coincidence?)
EQ was 30 points higher.

I can't win!

Re: Advice on Disputing Balances

Dont let it ruin the day Smiley Happy While it may not be your *true* FICO, they are normally pretty close. The best thing about truecredit is that you can pull every 24 hours, so you have an idea how you are doing. I use TC to basically see what is on my reports real quick. Once you get your actual reports in then you can pin point what needs to be done better.

Unless you are in a hurry and are in the middle of a mortgage loan -
Just wait it out -

Re: Advice on Disputing Balances

I am not in the middle of a loan, but wanted to apply for one soon to make the spring building season.

I see you are a moderator, could you give me any idea how quickly they might update if I wait it our like you suggest.

Thank you.

Re: Advice on Disputing Balances

You need to be careful. I did this in anticipation of doing the mortgage thing and Crapital one actually deleted my active tradeline across all three bureaus rather than correcting the balances.

You take your chances.

I would wait it out.  They will be reported eventually

And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: Advice on Disputing Balances

If you dispute too often, CRA's will ignore later disputes as "frivolous."

Save your ammo. (I understand, though, I have a store card from hell --J.Crew/ WFNNB --that simply does not update.)
