Hi all,
I am needing some advice. To make a long story short, I opened phone lines under AT&T for my siblings a couple of years ago, probably 2010-2011. They eventually didn't pay and that got sent to collections. I've disputed this collection account numerous times, as every year or so it gets sold to a different collection agency. The last time I disputed this was in April 2017, and it got removed from my reports. A couple of weeks ago that collection agency sold this debt to another collection agency and I got the letter in the mail stating if I wanted to dispute validity to respond within 30 days. Well I sent in the dispute letter, and today I got their reply. Apparently they contacted AT&T and all AT&T sent them was an "account summary" or a "bill." This "bill" has nothing but my name address and the amount I owe. No charges of any kind on this "bill" just a past due amount. It looks like they just took my name and address and amount past due and put it on a billing template. They even put the billing date as 11/28/17-12/26-17. I certainly did not receive this "bill" between that bililng period and haven't even had a bill from AT&T in years. What else can I send this collection agency to say I dispute this debt? Can I send a letter requesting original date of application or orginal billing statements? I do not need this debt, over $1300, showing on my reports. I am buying my first home and am in my due diligence period and will soon close. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
Well I thought debts 7 years old cannot be reported.
