Well, I don't know what my Chex shows but, I got approved to join Alliant today so, it must have been OK

Very savvy.  There's a thread on here somewhere (oh, here it is) that shows what Alliant was looking at (FICO scores et al) for approvals - but that's a couple years old.  Still good reading, though.

Brought up a couple questions:

Does ACU require a minimum EQ score for a checking & savings account? I also signed up for direct deposit

Do they refi a car that's paid off?

Got the "Welcome" package today AND a separate letter apologizing being rejected for a checking account due to a chexsystems report. Are they serious? I elected direct deposit but, I need a checking account, too.

Maybe I'll go to PenFed or PSECU instead

Well, darn.

It looks like you have your foot in the door with a savings account - so keep that one going. 

In the meantime, it's probably a good idea to order your ChexSystem report (if you haven't already) and see what is on it.  That'll help you as you move forward - and it'll prevent things like this from blindsiding you - that's never fun.

Do they ever do recons on checking accounts? I really need a checking account, too. I ordered my chex report but, haven't received it yet.

In my experience, they auto-reject if you're on Chex and won't recon.  I had to dispute my item on Chex and wait for it to be removed before they'd touch me for checking.
