Someone please help me understand this. We know Amex uses Experian for their credit bureau pulls so why is it that the score they show you in your account is Transuion?
The same goes for NavyFCU. They are not using Transunion but the score & report is still Equifax.
Help me make sense of this.
thanks.
If you have a card with them, Amex shows you either EX8 or TU VS3, depending on where you look. But the TU VS3 that you get with their "My Credit Guide" CMS is different from the EX8 Amex UW uses for credit decisions because these are different products that Amex has purchased for different parts of its business for different purposes. A lot of issuers offer VS3 for free to their cardholders as a credit monitoring tool, since VS3 scores are cheaper than FICO8's, but almost none of them use it for lending decisions.
Thanks!
I do have an Amex card so where do I look for the EXP Fico 8? You are correct in that I'm seeing the TU with their free credit monitoring.
What about NavyFCU; any insight?
I don't have any experience with NFCU or the scores they provide, so someone else will have to answer about them specifically, but to see your EX8 on the Amex desktop site go to Account Services>Profile and then scroll down to the bottom, where there should be a "View FICO Score" link.
