Hi All,
I'm desperate for help in getting ideas on how to get a letter of deletion for a late payment from Amex. I was thinking my husband was paying how own card, and he was assuming I was paying all bills, including his card. When we realize our error, we paid the card off to a zero balance but Amex had already reported the 30 day late to the credit agencies. I have tried everything to get Amex to work with us, as we are in the process of buying a new home. My score is well over 800 but because of this one late payment my husband's credit has plumited to 720. We have called every number we can find for Amex and they basically have told us that since they didn't make the error they refuse to help us. We have never missed payments before and have been customers for over 10 years. We made a huge mistake and don't know what more we can do to get some goodwill from Amex. I have written a letter of goodwill to their executive office but obviously haven't heard back yet.
I'm asking for any advice and help on this matter. Any numbers you think I should try calling, emails to write to, addresses to send goodwill letters? Thank you all so much!
Definitely type amex goodwill into the searchbar here -- some threads with positive outcomes.
While you are doing that, go to EVERY credit card you have, with or without balances, and set up autopay immediately. On everything. Make a spreadsheet and have your SO double check it to confirm everything is set up.
