Update, After disputing the EQ reporting Amex went back and put 30, 60, and 90 day lates on my TU report, score dropped 30 something points. Wow, should have left it alone
Ugh.
If its any consolation, at some Amex would have caught on and updated to all 3 CRA. Also, they are reporting 90 days late as opposed to charge off. In a few months you can do a goodwill to the Amex EO. They are pretty good.

They are reporting CO status as well, have called them again, and am on twitter at the moment trying to get someone with more authority to look and see. I don’t understand putting two reports in good standing and then changing back to CO status, which made me get turned down for a cli over the weekend because of a recent charge off on TU, very frustrating.
What dates did they use. I hope they used the actual dates it occurred.
Fascinating story you shared. I'm in the same boat as you with AMEX. Do you have any updates you'd like to share? Very curious what your latest update/experience is.
Experian is still showing no lates, tu and eq are still showing them, need to send another letter to corporate but have not done so, been one year now with the gold Amex and no issues.
Have been approved for about $80,000 in credit cards over the last year plus a couple months, mostly strategic apps based on the forums here and keeping utilization low.
Send nice letters to them and if you can provide proof, they are very forgiving especially if they have proof in hand.
Massive thanks for the tips, and likewise I found your story a great inspiration how to get back in their good graces.
im my experience, I was offered a reinstatement opportunity with the Amex Risk & Recovery team, however after making my first couple payments towards PIF, Risk & Recovery then mentioned that I might not (corrected typo from now to not) get reinstated (after a phone guarantee). I believe it might be because of being bounced to other reps.
In your experiace, which team at Amex seemed most responsive at respecting the offer to reinstate your account?
Whoever you talked to originally and they sent me a letter stating they would.
They made a mistake and gave me the optima card and I did not complain, no idea if saying anything would have done any good, anyway two months later I get a call from a 800 number and someone from overseas calling on Sunday saying my card should have been reinstated and did I want to do that, of course I said yes and got my green card back.
Checked online for prequal on occasion even though I knew better, but a month after getting my green card I had an offer to upgrade to the gold card and accepted that, have had ever since.
Only thing I will say is the whole thing is handled by someone other than the Amex credit bureau or the regular reps or their supervisors because I have talked to all of them, just email corporate and wait to see if they do anything otherwise no one else there will help and will probably make things worse.
