Re: Any advice on a bad personal loan?

The scary things about those predatory APR personal loan companies is that high APR. Remember the Rule 72, which tells you how fast your loan will double.

Whoever stated that you should ask for an amorization schedule is offering sound advice, because

You could try to get a loan on Prosper, too, if your FICO score is high enough (mine isn't otherwise, I'd be there in a heart beat). You might have to pay a high APR (not in the mid 20s) and you're paying extra then the balance goes away really fast.

I would go for the Credit Union, use your car as collateral for the loan, and get the lower APR. 26% APR is effectively twice that, because you can't refi in the forseeable future with good scores any way (need great scores).

Re: Any advice on a bad personal loan?

Thanks for advice - so far no luck with CU's.  Too many restrictions in that I'm not eliglbe or the company I'm with isn't on their list.  Most seem to want a better score than mine in order to get a 7K loan.

CC's - I'm still looking into.  Trying to figure out the best one as I don't want to go on an app spree and take my score even lower, but i want guaranteed approval.  would ask HSBC for a CLI, but just cc a few months ago.  Wamu just raised me and even then it's only to 1750.

I'll look into amoritization schedules/notes, but Citi is fighting me on the "pay more, you'll pay it off sooner" thing.  They said this doesn't work like a mortgage, hence why i don't think I can get a amoritization note.
