Any advice?

I received a credit card from a retail store when I was 18 for a 15% discount (4 years ago).  I was dumb and paid the card off and closed the account.  Well a few months later I received a letter in the mail saying I was late on a payment and had a late fee.  The retail store CC company said the payment didnt go through and I found out that the wrong checking account number was entered when I paid the card off over the phone.  (Whether I said the wrong number or the employee performing the transaction made a mistake is unknown)  When I called the company back, they removed the late fee as I paid off the balance... again and they said everything was o.k.  It wasn't until recently that I found out I have a 30 day late red flag on my credit report.  I've recentely called the company requesting for my old statements, which I haven't received yet.  I disputed the red flag over the internet when I first received my credit report but was denied.  I really feel like it was an unfortunate event but I don't deserve the red flag. It's the only bad mark on my report (besides short credit history) Is there anything else I can do?  Thank you.

Re: Any advice?

You can send the company a GW letter, explaining the situation and asking them to remove the late notation from your CR.
