Anyone Else Experience This?

For several years I never even bothered to check my CR or apply for any credit after being turned down so many times. When I decided to get my CR cleaned up and established several new TL's I have old collection accounts (I am talking about 17 year old accounts) coming out of the woodwork calling me and sending letters. Before I started cleaning up my CR I never heard from them. I know the SOL has run out a long time ago, but it is just the idea of being bothered by them all the time.
Also, since I have DV'd 3 CA's, they are starting to re-age the CA accounts and further damage my credit.
I am so discouraged at this point because with these CA re-aging my accounts it is doing so much damage to the good I have done so far Smiley Sad

Re: Anyone Else Experience This?

Yeah - I had one closed account do that. Wasn't even on my CR a couple of years ago, but since I've raised my ficos and avg of 12 points -  they are calling everyday. I sent then a PFD on 6/25 and now I think they are:Smiley MadMAD.

Re: Anyone Else Experience This?

I don't think there is anything else I can do. I wish so much I would have never sent the DV letters. At least I would have had a chance of these coming off my reports in the next year or two. Now they have added 6 or 7 more years. This is just not right. All I did was ask for validation, nothing else. I feel like I am going back to square one.

Re: Anyone Else Experience This?

Hold up!  Are you saying they re-aged the account when you DV'd? That's what ya call ILLEGAL. Verifying the debt shouldn't change the DOFD or the DOLA!!

Re: Anyone Else Experience This?

Yes. I have had 2 of the 3 CA that I DV'd do this. What one CA did was they had previously a couple of years ago reported on my TU and EQ only. Now they reported on my EX as a new collection as of July but it is the same account that is 5 years old that they are reporting as a new collection. The other CA had already reported on the three CR and turned around after I DV'd and reported the same collection as a new collection and updated to this month. This is why I am so upset. And the thing is they haven't really validated. I ask that they prove that this is my bill, that they prove they are licensed in my state to collect, and that they prove they own the debt. All these two CA did was send me a copy of a hospital bill, nothing else.

onmyway ...  get the disputes going, here.  These debts are beyond the SOL/  Dispute them as too old to report.

They are not supposed to re-age when you DV.
