Re: Apparently I've hit a bucket ceiling with my fico scores

Tax liens stay on your cr forever if unpaid, and are deleted 7 years aftr being paid, are one of those exceptions to the rule.

My scores have climbed steadily from around the upper 500's late 2014 to eq 685,  tu 668, and ex 687 now.     Great compared to where I was a year ago.

But I think I may have topped out until some of my baddies fall off completely in 2017.  I have been at these scores for about 1 1/2 months.

In that time I have added about 15000 in cli through several cards, also had my report pulled at least once on all bureau's (twice on ex).  And added 2 new accounts.

My util is around 15% total because of one last CO that I will pay once I have saved enough up to contact them and arrange a decent settlement.  Maybe once that is paid and

i'm around 5% total util and I only let one card report a balance I'll know for sure if I'm capped.

Anyone have any thoughts.  Really would love to get to 700 by the first of the year.

Based on a review of posted forum data and other info, you should be able to get to 720 over time on a dirty scorecard unless you have a bankruptcy holding you back.. You are not at a "bucket" ceiling with a score under 700 - IMO.

As others have said, your credit file is not stable and you are adding new credit that has a negative short term impact on upward score potential. Let things settle down for a few months and watch what happens.

P.S. You can get to scores above 720 (but probably not to 760) with tax liens in your credit file. [tax lien prevents top tier score?]

You can get to 740/752/753 if you put some really nice lipstick on the tax lien pig Smiley Wink
