At what point would you dispute non updated balance

It's coming up on 2 full months since my capital 1 balance has updated on experian. I have a $100 balance and it was reported a while back but it still has a $2200 balance from may.

Not a huge deal but it's never taken this long before, at what point should I start to consider a dispute to get them to update the balance?

would that even help? Or would they just send the same updated report they have already sent to the bureaus? At this point it almost seems like it's on the bureaus to update with the information they have been sent

I'd first contact Capital One and inform them of the discrepancy.

Re: At what point would you dispute non updated balance

Last time I tried that they told me they reported the updated information and to contact credit bureau.

is there any downside to dispute an account? I've never had to do it before, I have read that sometimes it can cause the account to be taken off your report until the dispute is resolved. Is this correct?

Re: At what point would you dispute non updated balance

CO is known to report late especially when PIF a large balance and they are known to miss a month of reporting here and there.

IMO just wait and see.  If you are not seeking credit, what's the sense of having it report anyway.

Give another month, they should catch up.

@redpat

Most for Amex, Amex soft pulls are usually a month or so behind, so I'm trying to plan for my 90 day CLI, 90 days will be on 9/1, if their pull is a month behind I would need to have my ducks Ina row by 8/1.

I just don't want anything hurting my chances for the 3x increase especially if it's a balance from 4 months earlier that just hasn't updated.

I bet it will be reported by the end of the month.......Is there a difference of asking 3x on 9/1 or 10/1, is a large purchase planned or is it 3x just for yucks?

Honestly that's a great point, and I don't know why that didn't register with me.
