No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
A while back, my wife added me as an authorized user on one of her department store cards. It started showing up on my credit report. Later, about 9 months ago, I had her remove me as an authorized user because it was at a higher usage rate than the rest of my cards and it was making it hard for me to bring my usage pct down.
So she did, and I can see that they no longer report it month to month. However, it still shows up on all 3 of my credit reports. What's worse is that since they stopped reporting, it still shows the older higher balance.
Is there a way to get it removed? I feel like it might be a negative factor.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Try calling the issuer and ask them. When I removed my daughter as an AU for a Chase card they said that by default removing the AU didn't remove it from her credit report, but that she could call and have it removed. They wouldn't let me do it. On the flip side, once I removed her the balance reported as zero and it was just there helping with age. That was about 8 months ago, we just checked recently and strangely it is gone altogether from her EQ report, we haven't check the others yet.
Thank you all for the quick response! I will go ahead and dispute it.

All you need to do is dispute it with the bureaus. Reason: Authorized user, not responsible. Please remove.
This is the only type of account you can remove with little to no effort.
Just wanted to give a quick update. Trans Union deleted the erroneous account in 1 day! I was shocked.
I'm struggling a little with the other two but now I think I'll hold off and see how it affects my TU score before proceeding with the other 2. Thanks again for all the advice!
Well, I already got feedback. TU FICO 8 went up 5 points on this one change alone. The authorized user account made up about 40% of my revolving debt so my usage rate dropped by removing it. Looks like I will move forward with other 2.
