Authorized User

Hello everyone this is my first time posting in these forums because I am getting serious with my credit for the first time in my life. I'm cleaning up my report and I noticed how a account (my brothers) is still showing up on my report because I was a authorized user. My question is my brother closed all his accounts due to BK 7 but it's still showing up on my report. He was never late. Should I remove this because it's not reporting anything anymore since 2017 but my report still counts it in my overall balance and credit age. Thanks

Re: Authorized User

Hi @Anonymous, welcome to the forums.

How old is the tradeline?  You mentioned that it's closed and in good standing (i.e. no lates or any derog info), correct?

Re: Authorized User

Yes it says in the comment terminated. The thing is they are counting it as a part of the total available balance and the age of my credit. It's around 8 years old

Seems like it's helping you from an aging perspective, albeit it can no longer be used.

What is the limit on the tradeline and what bank or account is it with?

Re: Authorized User

It's discover and it's showing 0. It's probably a glitch because it stopped reporting like I mention and it says terminated. Limit is around 4000

Re: Authorized User

It sounds like it's doing nothing but good for your score and if it's closed you don't have to worry about your brother maxing it out. How much it is helping probably depends on what your average and oldest account ages would be without it. It will drop off your report on its own eventually, I see no reason to hurry it unless your average age otherwise is older than this card.
