Authorized Users and Permissible Purpose

Does a Creditor have PP to pull an AU credit?  My wife has been an AU on my Chase account for about 1 1/2 years and on March 17th, there is a Hard Pull from Chase listed.  I looked at my credit report and no such hard pull is showing.  Is this authorized or do I need to send them a letter?

*Note:

My wife has never had a chase card, account, or collection with them.

Permisslbe credit pulls under FCRA 604 are authorized for "an account of the consumer."

In my opinion, AUs arent a consumer having an account with the creditor.  Thus, I dont see permissible pull of your CR as an AU.

Thanks for the response!  I was thinking along the same lines, so I am going to contact chase.  Thanks again.

Here is the response that I received from Chase:

Presently, we are unable to research your inquiry because
the correspondence we received from you did not contain
the following:

? Your complete social security number

? Complete address

Please obtain the additional information we require and
return your correspondence to the address below or e-mail
it with a copy of this letter. It is necessary that the
requested information be returned within 30 days from
receipt of this letter. Once we receive your
correspondence, we will research your inquiry and make any
necessary corrections. If we do not hear from you, we
will consider this matter closed and will take no further
action.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't a lender need your SSN to be able to obtain your credit report?  Seems to me that they already have this information as they have ALREADY requested a credit report. Smiley Mad  I think they are just buying time now Smiley Mad
