Authorized user and credit reporting question

Short version:

Will removing my wife as an "authorized user" prevent credit reporting of said account?

Longer version:

Becuase I missed one payment last year, it has negatively impacted HER credit.  Ive determined that this is a individual account (in my name only) but she is an "authorized user" (not even sure how this came to be, but thats not the issue). Will simply removing her authorized user remove the negative account from her credit report?

IME it usually leaves the account on there but closed/terminated

Dispute it with the bureaus to remove it completely, while also removing her as an AU to prevent any more reporting
