The credit union my car is financed through stopped reporting my auto loan payments in August 2021. I called the bank last month and told them. The agent I talked to said she would let that department know and I should be hearing from that department when this was fixed.
Instead, I got a call from the department telling me that I need to dispute the incorrect info with the CRA that is reporting it. I said there is no incorrect info, and all three CRAs are showing the same lack of updates starting in August. I told them they just simply stopped reporting my auto loan payments and I wanted them to correct it. She then proceeded to tell me I need to get copies of all three credit bureau reports directly from the CRAs and provide them to her.
Doesn't that sound incorrect? First off, why would they just stop reporting? And if they stopped the updates, shouldn't they be able to report the missing payments without me poviding proof that they aren't?
My auto loan balance is over $2k less than what my report says.
Might be on their end. The connection may have a flaw or 1 letter or number is off. You should get the reports and look real closely to what is listed on that account. You may find the mistake. Print them out and send them in or go in-branch. Disputing may lead to worse problems. Especially with EQ.

Which Credit Union is your auto loan through?
Now I just got an alert form Equifax saying the account is closed with a zero balance. No idea what the bank is doing. The loan still shows the correct balance in the banking app.
As of your last post it was 12 days since the bank suggested you obtain hard copies from the CRA's and submit them. Best advice is to follow through on their request.
Not necessary. I refinanced with PenFed.
