Average Age of Accounts

Hey FICO family. My sig other and I have AU status on a couple of each others cards. I would like some advice on removing myself from her accounts in order to increase my AAOA. You see my wife has recently started to acquire more cards to build her credit profile, and I added myself on two of them. I had completely forgotten that this will decrease my AAOA as well. At least that is what it seems like. If I remove myself will this help my AAOA go back up? I have 13 cards with varying ages as in years and my score dropped a bit. Thanks

Re: Average Age of Accounts

No matter what, authorized user accounts will always count on the mortgage scores; however on version 9 and 9, it may or may not be counting, depending on if it’s caught by the anti-abuse algorithm. You would have to test it to see.

Yes if you remove them the ages would return, but you would actually have to have them removed not simply have responsibility terminated.
