Balance is not being reported correctly on all three credit bureaus of my credit cards.

All three credit bureaus show I have a $1,400  to $1, 800 in revolving credit accounts that are carrying a balance.

They've all been paid off for at least 45 to 60 days. The balance of that amount was not even that high for the last 3 months.  Fico will update me that there is a change in balance. Typically $6 or something like that. Just as recently as a couple days ago it mentions the balances are updated. Though I know this is not correct.  I have no other loans other than a car loan. And the balance of that far exceeds $1,800.

Anybody have an idea why this is not reporting correctly and how to get them to report it correctly. It is saying my score is hurting due to my high balance.

Thank you

Re: Balance is not being reported correctly on all three credit bureaus of my credit cards.

Do you use any free sources for frequent updates to your credit reports, like Credit Karma or WalletHub?  If not, sign up for those.  Pull your report and look up the accounts that you're saying aren't reflecting your most current cycle information.  On those account, what date does it say they were last reported?  If that date is inside the last 30 days, there's nothing you can really do except wait until the next reporting.  Typically the reporting date will be on or about the same date each month... so if it says the date last reported was Nov 22, you can expect an update on our about Dec 22.  If the date last reported was greater that 30 days... say 45-60, I would contact the lender(s) and ask them to please re-report the account(s) immediately in order to get your newer/correct/lower balances reported.

Re: Balance is not being reported correctly on all three credit bureaus of my credit cards.

The FCRA requires that furnishers "promptly" update any previously reported information as is necessary to maintain the current accuracy of that information.  See FCRA 623(a)(2).

No specific period in days, weeks, months, etc., is stipulated, leaving to interpretation what is considered to be "prompt."

A reasonableness standard must be appplied.

The common interpretation of prompt is in the next regular (which is usually monthly) reporting cycle.

That begins with a reasonable promptness period of at least 30 days.

Before updating balance information, the payment must first be processed internally by their accounting division, which reasonably could add another week before the payment is credited to the consumer file.

Then it must move to the credit reporting folks, who have their own procesing time periods before the update can be prepared.

If that update is prepared close to the next regular cycle reporting date, then it likely wont get entered into the update file sent to the CRA until the next monthly cycle.

We are now reasonably 40-60 days from date of payment.

Of course, business never goes smoothly.

I would personally not begin to complain until at lease 60 days has expired.

Re: Balance is not being reported correctly on all three credit bureaus of my credit cards.

Ok so I pulled the free report from Credit Karma and the data appears to be correct with it showing a low balance as expected.  Why then is Myfico showing "depending on the bureau" a minimum $1,400 to $1,800 balance.  Credit Karma has a toal of $350.

Also, I did call both credit card companies and they explained that the balance is updated by X date. Which was a month or so ago. Which is the correct amount.

Could Myfico somehow not be showing correctly?  Seen anything like this before?

It sounds like MF simply hasn't updated yet.  Look at the date of your report/scores on MF, what does it say?  Is it an old date?  9 times out of 10 this is the problem.  You're simply seeing the updated information elsewhere first, before MF updates.  Depending on your membership you only get updates every certain amount of time, whether it's 90 days, 30 days, etc.  I don't know about those memberships since I don't have one but maybe someone else could offer more insight.

Re: Balance is not being reported correctly on all three credit bureaus of my credit cards.

According to Myfico all 3 have been updated in the last 5 days.

If they only update once every so many months and not almost real time then why would I even pay for this service.

Since I got this far I think I am going to contact myfico and ask them what the heck is going on. No reason to have this outdated of information if they are getting this much money out of me.

If you're getting that from the alerts, it's only telling you that your FICO 8 scores were updated 5 days ago.

All 3 scores, or credit reports?

Your scores will update whenever alertable events happen to your file.  Your reports will only update as often as your membership states they will.

It is unlikely to get real time updates from every movement in your credit reports from MyFico. It can take a few days or longer, depending on bureau and the type of update. I use a mix of services. All have their pros and cons and none are perfect and non are real time for all 3 bureaus (that I have found).
