Being an Authorized user hurt my Credit, how can I fix this?

I was listed on a family members Credit Card as an Authorized user.

There was never a time when I held or used the card, it was only being used by that family member as the main account holder.

The card went into 30 days late status without my knowing;  my credit, that I've worked so hard to repair, took a 100 point hit.    I called the bank as soon as I received the alert that my credit score went down, they instructed me to remove my name from the account, that this should help my score.

So far I have not received a reprieve on my score, is there anything I can do?

Thank you for your help!

HI jwhit711,

Welcome!

Have you pulled a new report and FICO score here?

Is the card currently showing up on your credit report?

Thanks for the welcome, yes, it's on my most recent report.

I'm signed up for Score watch, it still shows there as well.

Re: Being an Authorized user hurt my Credit, how can I fix this?

You score is generated at the same time as your report is pulled.

When the item is removed from your credit report, you'll see a new score generated for that report.

Depending on when the creditor updates the account status to the CreditReportingAgencies, it may take several weeks for the report to be updated.  Often, not always, the creditor updates AU status at the same time they update the account (usually, not always, the statement date).  If you look at your CR, it may state the last date that accont was updated.  When it updates again, it should remove your AU status at that time.  If you're lucky, they might update sooner.

Thank you, it's been a couple months at this point, so I'm not optimistic it's been taken care of.

If the bank has removed you bu hasn't updated in several months, dispute thru the CRAs. EQ has a Not Mine reason.

If the CC has removed you but hasn't updated in several months, dispute thru the CRAs. EQ has a Not Mine reason.
