This is a fact!

Well, that's interesting, and what I speculated about in my first post in this thread, post #5. Let's assume both one's EX & TU have exactly the same data with CLs, utilizaton, age of accounts, etc. And if both have 2 inquiries within the past year it would seem to me that Fico8 should give you the exact same score for both. But in my experience and what I see from others posting here it seems to me that EX somehow treats inquiries and/or new accounts more harshly than other CRAs which results in a lower Fico8 for EX.

Re: Big drop in EX after inquiry

So I double checked my EX. 9 total. Two dropping off in April. Three are from this month the rest span from last year and the year before.

No other information has been reported other than that INQ from USAA. Utilization is about 18%.

You also have to take into consideration rebucketing factors.

Re: Big drop in EX after inquiry

I've never had an inquiry alone cost me more than 5 points in FICO scoring.  And I was chock full of debt most of this time.

I would lose about 10 points for a new account, and gain them back in a few months.

Re: Big drop in EX after inquiry

I hope you get back that loss soon, OP.

I wound feel flabbergasted, too.

Re: Big drop in EX after inquiry

If the exact same data produced the exact same score at all three bureaus, why would we need three bureaus? Each bureau modifies the algorithm to make what they feel is a more predictive score. Therefore three bureaus with three different scores, even though there has been complaint by lenders and they’ve tried to bring them more in line.
