BofA secured 3 HARD PULLS? Question....

In May I appiled for BofA card, was denied and offered secured card. After lots of requests for supportive documentation and deposted checks I finally recieved my card in August 30.

However, my CR shows THREE HARD PULLS, is this normal?  I would like to write them a GW letter to have them deleted.

Does anyone have a good address from B of A, for this type of inquirey?

Should I include my DOB ans SS# in the letter, or will the card number be enough info?

Re: BofA secured 3 HARD PULLS? Question....

I have had an easy time having EX remove additional INQ's

Have EXP report number and call them -
After putting in you Report number and last 4
Say Agent

Have the report in your hands or on your computer screen - know the exact dates and Who pulled.

Do not ask them remove the first INQ-

Gone in under 3 hours-

Question?  Did you apply for a secured card or did you apply for a regular card first and then offered a secured card?

Re: BofA secured 3 HARD PULLS? Question....

What this sounds like is  when you first apply to see if you are pre-approved that is a soft hit, and then when you apply for the regular card that is a hard hit.   When denied, online they will offer you an option of a secured card,   That is not supposed to be a hit,  info is supposed to be used from the initial hit.   But what happens is after the rejection of the regular card there is a Standard Operating Procedure of sending out the denial letter which will always have an offer for the option of applying for a secured card or others.   Some people will use that letter and apply again creating an additional hit.   The letter should be ignored since you already applied for the secured on line.    Thus creating a third hit.

I don't know if this was your situation but this is common for people who have multiple hits for their secured card when applying for a regular card first.

Re: BofA secured 3 HARD PULLS? Question....

Boswd, that's exactly what happened to me...

Applied for the BoA's Platinum Plus Visa; got declined. Hit 1 They immediately offered the 99/500 partial secured card. I applied for that. Hit 2.

I assumed it was a PP since after all, I DID apply for 2 different cc's. 2 credit apps, 2 hard inq's.

Re: BofA secured 3 HARD PULLS? Question....

I would challenge the second hit.    I only got one dinger, did the exact same thing as you.   I accepted the offer for the 99/500 on the same page as my rejection notice.   got the denial letter in the mail that also had the 99/500 offer, just threw it away since I already accepted the offer on line.   The rep said there wouldn't be an additional hit because they will use the info from the first hit.

but if you applied for the 99/500 from the denial letter, I can see where that would be two hits.  But if you didn't and only applied from the online offer after the rejection,  I would challenge it.   Again I only got one hit and the rep said that's all you should get.

Re: BofA secured 3 HARD PULLS? Question....

I would send a GW to BoA and explain the situation.   Since they wouldn't have done an additional inquiry if you also didn't reply to the same offer you already accepted,  I don't think they would have a hard time about doing it for you.
