Re: Buckets

Sylviatob,

No, no, no please do not think you offended me.  Trust me, it takes a lot more to offend me!  I am just frustrated that my limited mental ability not being able to comprehend this bucket thing totally.  I think it is best to not worry about it, like everyone is saying.  It just sucks to see your scores go backwards instead of forwards.

I appreciate everyone explaining this bucket thing.  Syliatob, I think I will take up your offer on getting that bottle of wine.  Heck, believe it or not, we are getting dumped on with snow.  We are supposed to get 10 to 16 inches tonight and tomorrow of snow, and the way it is coming down I think it will be more!  A good bottle of wine (Ripple), a nice fire, and my dog.  All the worries will be lost soon!  Until my wife comes home...............but that is another story!  Smiley Wink

Re: Buckets

John, that's exactly what I do! Get the ripple, build a fire and sit on floor with my 2 dogs. Smiley Happy

My little pea brain can absorb only so much too. After full absorption, I just go gaa gaaaa.

I think hauling stated it perfectly with the 2nd grade and 3rd grade thing. Best comparative explanation I've heard on it yet. Thanks hauling!

Migrating into a new bucket/tier/credit catagory is beyond my ability to control. It's out of my hands. Sure was disappointing though when I went from 681 down to 651, ya know?

Re: Buckets

30 points?  Wow, I thought my 4 point drop sucked.  I have no room or right to complain!

Just out of curiousity, did your score rebound fairly quickly or is it still stuck lower?

Re: Buckets

I share John's concern about the timing of these "promotions." It's exasperating for me, but that's all it is, and I don't have major borrowing planned any time soon. I think it would be awful if this happened right before a major event like a mortgage or car loan app.

I have to hope that for mortgages, that look at a whole lot more than scores, the lenders could account for the score change and still give the good rate. It's scarier for things like car loans and definitely CC's, that can be very score-driven and thumbs-up, thumbs-down. One more thing to turn my hair grey!

John, I hope the timing works out for you. If you are still around a year out from buying a house, I think your scores should have recovered and then greatly increased by then. My current plan is to throw all the score tweaking strategies out the window, PIF everything weekly but the home equity line of credit, and just grimly wait them out. Plus the GW's, of course!

Maybe we should rename ourselves the Bucket Brigade! Smiley Tongue

Re: Buckets

Smiley Very Happy Love the photo!!!! Where did you find it?? Smiley Very Happy I'd say that was just about the expression on my face when I got my welcome-to-your-new-bucket text message.

By the way, where are you that you're getting a foot of snow? I just let the cat in, and it's still barefoot weather. The trees have just started to turn.

Re: Buckets

I am in the mountains of Colorado.  We average around 300 inches of snow a year up here.  No BS.

How about you?  Sounds like Florida or so.

Re: Buckets

No, no, East Tennessee, in our version of the mountains. We used to get some decent snows around here, but it's been a while since there's been anything more than a dusting. There's always a freak warm spell in January where I have to go yell at the daffodils and forsythia, and tell them to slow down, it's not spring yet.

Lucky you to live in Colorado! Back in the early 70's, I did 3 1/2 weeks of Outward Bound in the Uncompagres. (sp????) I've never really appreciated anything below treeline since then.

By the way, I define "barefoot weather" as anything above 55 degrees, so I can see how that would be misleading!

Re: Buckets

It's barefoot & shorts weather here too. In fact supposed to be 90 here tomorrow. I'll take it. Downright comfortable for me. Smiley Happy

John, yes it has rebounded, but it's now bouncing all over the place. Paid off 2 car loans in August, applied for and got a gas card in Aug(that's the month the scores dropped), went app crazy for 3 cc's(which I got)this month, and it's rebounded to 659.

No telling where it'll be in a few weeks. But I'm cooling my jets on doing ANYTHING except keep the utils low, and pay on time....every time.

Re: Buckets

Sylvia, that's encouraging about your score rise, and congrats. I know that your CL's increased with the new cards (scores up!), but the inq's had to knock the scores down some, so it sounds like at least some of that rise is recovery from the new bucket.

Hope so, anyway! I'm hoping to do some finagling in April with a 0% BT or 0% initial fee card to park some remodeling expenses for a while. It would be nice to think that at least 2 of my scores would be competitive by then.
