Good evening!
I had a very bad identity theft issue that went from IRS to cc, mortgages, loans... you name it! Battled it for 7 years but recently I was issued a new ssn because it was THAT BAD. Anyway, my oldest credit line was from 11 years ago but it can not be transferred to my new ssn. So right now I am showing that my credit is only 11 months old. I have a auto loan and a secured cc (500 cl). My fico scores are Equifax (738) Transunion (644) Experian (723). My goal is a mortgage so I know I need a few open lines to prove my ability with credit but I don't know if I should apply, which one I should apply for, or should I wait for pre-approvals to arrive. I'm scared of applying do to my previous id theft and also I currently have no inquiries and don't want to ding my credit and it be denied due to lack of it. Can someone please give me some advise? I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance!

Sorry to hear of your past problems. I'm sure that is a horrible experience to go thru. Have you tried to take a look at Capital One's preapproval page to see if anything shows up there? They are good at granting credit for those that don't have a lot of established credit on their reports. Otherwise look into a local credit union and talk to a loan officer and see if they have anything to offer. You may need to add another secured credit card and let your existing accounts age for a bit longer before any of the major banks will grant you any non secured cards. Others might have some additional suggestions.
Good luck in your efforts.
