Buying new I phone 15 and finding that apple has change rules of the game.

Hi today I went to the Apple store to find out I phone 15 pro and ask about Apple financing showed the sale person my Apple medal credit card. I was told that apple has change rules as of August that to get free 24 financing you need to open or have account with 3 big providers carriers. I have Metro PCS not T mobile do not want to open new account I have great plan. I was also told that to open a new account that a hard pull would be done not a soft pull. I do not want any hard pulls just to open a cell phone plan, it loos like I may need to open a new credit card account to get a bonus and 15 months of 0%. Why do I need to have my credit pulled when I allready have Apple gs account and cell plan. How would other handle this what the best way in buying phone I could just pay for phone when bill comes in.

In your case if you have cash just charge it and pay card off unless you want 1200ish going towards a sub then open a new card buy phone and collect sub and if 0% carry balance if you so choose otherwise just collect sub and pay it off.  I have VZW and whenever I do an upgrade no credit pull is done and suspect that is case with VZ,ATT,T-MOBILE.  In your scenario of no contract that is what has changed.

Also to add if you have iphone 13 or greater don't bother upgrading as just burning money.  This was likely the most disappointing "upgrade" I have ever seen.  I don't see AAPLE making record sales this year with lack luster new offering.

Just so you know,  going from MetroPCS -> Tmobile is a migration, not a normal port/new account. I think they don't do a HP for new accounts these days regardless. That might be worth exploring just for the savings on paying taxes/fees on Magenta, but you should do the research on that.

As for the Apple card rules change,  they did announce that a while ago & it is indeed unfortunate. Though,  I have heard of people getting around it by 'activating' it on someone else's account, then reconfiguring the eSIM provisioning afterwards.  A bit messy,  but an option. Only thing I'm unsure of—does the iPhone adopt Apple's Flex policy & lock to the carrier you activate it on? Or is it an unlocked SKU that is processed as a one time payment activation.

Hopefully some of that helps. Good luck in your endeavors.

I have the I phone 8 which I bought back in 2017 it is time for a new phone the battery is giving out. I am not happy with apple gs for crap I almost never use card any way I have much better card in my wallet. I will put charge on my Us cash plus card it will give me 5%, apple only gives 3% or I may hold off for another year. I want all of my inquires to drop off befor I open any new accounts. Yes I understand that hard pull is not done if you all ready have account with one of 3 big carriers. I do not want to give up my Metro pcs I only pay 40 dollars per month and it includes all taxs and I have 10 g data plan.

Hey, I did some snooping and found the installment agreement.   The plan you were quoted is for people wanting to finance the phone for 24 months through Citizens One Bank.   It's a separate financing offer from the Apple Card.   Below is the link to the agreement.  I think the phone carriers are actually subsidizing this plan so thus the "three majors."

This appaers to have nothing to do with the GS Apple card, but I would call GS directly and confirm.

These are conflating two different financing options.

A few years ago I financed my iPhone using the Citizens two year payment plan.  It was an HP with Citizens but I already had ATT service.

I apologize, I did even more snooping and you are correct.   This just happened.   Sucks big time.

I have heard GS is suffering major losses from the Apple card and is trying to unload it onto AMEX or another card company.   Maybe this has something to do with that.  That's just an insane policy.

Re: Buying new I phone 15 and finding that apple has change rules of the game.

You are right it does sucks the apple is nothing to write home about, as I said I have much better cards in my wallet. GS must be losing big time with apple card this not going to help Apple. You can buy all other apple products with intrest free plan but not phones does not make any sence. How does Gs lose so much money on cred card operation. Just go back and read bunch of my post from 2019 when that GS does not know how to operate credit card company they got in over ther heads with this one.
