Bye-Bye Experian

I just sent off my CRA security freeze to Experian.

I did this for two reasons:

1)  They have been horrible with removing my INACCURATE information (I even have had people at CA say things like, "yeah Experian doesn't really care about getting stuff right...")

2)  EVERYONE out here in the western US seems to pull from it.

Now, whoever I apply for credit from will have to either just refuse to grant me credit (without the pull) OR pull TU/EQ - WHO HAVE MY ACTUAL CREDIT INFORMATION.

I don't know how long this post will stay up (for some reason, this tactic is deemed "credit repair") but if a few of you benefit from it, then all the better.

I feel for you! I am currently drafting MOV and ITS letters to EX. Their arrogance is legendary. Don't give up!!!

Re: Bye-Bye Experian

Maybe that is what I should do to EQ. They seem to be my worst enemy, and it seems everyone here uses EQ.

EQ is still hold my expired baddies, TU & EX deleted them within the last month or two. I didn't even request it of them, they pulled them because it was time, EX dropped one within the last two or three days.

Eq are hanging on to them for dear lift. I am having to wait for a 30 day investigation for them to drop them, when it plainly states they are due to drop.

But on the other hand, I guess if I put a freeze on EQ, I wouldn't get any Fico Alerts. Can't win for losing.

Re: Bye-Bye Experian

My husband has been talking about doing something like this with all 3 bureaus...he heard somekind of advertisement on Dave Ramsey.  It's something "lock".   It puts a freeze on your reports and whoever offers this service has to call you and get the correct passcode before your credit is ran.   I think we might do it because after pulling his reports and finding the large # of inquiries (that I'm writing a letter to dispute)  I know it has to be a part of the reason his scores are low and it makes it look like we've been desperate about getting credit.
In July of 06 we started looking for a new vehicle...he has 7 hard pulls on EQ with Citi pulling twice on the same day and 4 hard pulls on TU with Daimler Chrysler pulling twice on the same day  Then in January of this year we looked again and 6 hard pulls through EQ and 4 through TU and 1 through EX.  Mind you all of this was done on the same day in July 06 and the same day in Jan 07.  Then in April 07 that *)&()&) CA that we've been dealing with made a hard pull and on the same day they did it we got 9 other hard pulls...multiples from Capital one, credco, credit plus, FAC, FA Credco, etc.  I know he didn't apply for a credit line in April ~ we had just started trying to repair our credit and knew his was crappy ...so why apply??  This stuff is refreakindiculous!!  I know the ones in July of 06 should not affect his report any longer because it's been a year but good God almighty it sure looks bad!

So if anyone else has done this let me know...I'd like to hear the pros and cons!

Re: Bye-Bye Experian

I may be wrong but I believe that any creditor that is on your CR can pull at any time. A freeze only affects new creditors.

Yeah..I know the CA or OC can run it anytime but the others that did run shouldn't have been authorized...DH has no TL with Cap 1 or any of the others that did it.

What can I do about the inquiries from Jan of this year when we were looking to buy a new vehicle?  I know you have 14 days and all inquiries are suppose to count as 1 ding against your credit.  Who do I contact to find out if the  large # showing only counts as 1?  The CRA?

Re: Bye-Bye Experian

I know that the CRA must report all changes (in your favor) to all creditors that you had for I think the last 6 months.  I know what you mean about the ings being counted as 1. I would like to know also. One of the PROs should be able to answer us.

Is a Freeze different from a Fraud Alert?
