CA Not Registered - Cannot Collect?

FL Statute says that any business or person that is attempting to collect on a debt must be licensed and registered with the FL Office of Financial Regulation. My DH has several collections that are from companies that are not in the FL OFR's database.

Should I do PFD for $25 (no matter the balance) stating that they have no right to collect and that reporting the info to the CRA's is an attempt to collect, so therefore they are in violation of FCRA?

Re: CA Not Registered - Cannot Collect?

I wouldn't PFD them.  I like Timothy's suggestion better.

But I would DV them and if any of the debts were still owned by OC, I'd try to PFD.

BTW is your new user name from the My Dog Skip movie?  I made the huge mistake of crying at the end of that one and my then BF surprised me with a Jack Russell.

For those of you considering a puppy ( and of course always adopt, never buy) .... do not get a Jack Russell.  Smiley Surprised

Re: CA Not Registered - Cannot Collect?

Sorry - I wasn't that creative. I just thought of FIDO vs FICO, sounded unique.

I have a min-pin and a peka-pom-chee. Both are hyper, but not yippy or ankle biters. They hate the water-gun I keep on my desk - great deterrent for when they cause trouble.

I would like a JR for myself, but they are SO high maintenance.

Re: CA Not Registered - Cannot Collect?

It's still just as cute!

I would love a mini pinscher, and the water gun is something I've considered and have now added to my shopping list.   JRTs belong on farms and only farms.  It's like having the worst toddler in the world and it never grows up.  He got kicked out of obedience school...

A Pekingese Pomeranian what?

Pekipomchee Pekingese, Pomeranian, Chihuahua with the legs of a Dachshund. He's a cute floppy ball of fur. Where as the Minpin is a tightly wound ball of marine haircut (and attitude).

Re: CA Not Registered - Cannot Collect?

DV the CA - if they answer they are conducting business without a license (proof positive of the violation of FL statute).  They may remove - it's a game they play and canget away with it if no one questions them.  My one CA account was removed almost immediately - the CA wasn't licensed and bonded in this state - so it is the easier for them to remove than have the hassle of the AG.  BTW, I filed anyway just on principle.

Well if you ever want to trade dogs... yours sound adorable!  I don't think you'd be happy with the transaction though.  Smiley Very Happy

I'm so jealous.  Darn ex BFs... as much as I love my crazy dog... it was the absolute worst (and continually most expensive) present I've ever received.
