CA magically disappears

It's like magic.

On 5/21/07, I pulled my credit report from all three CRAs and there appeared (on all three) a CA account from Palisades stating that I owed Verizon $366. Well, I never got around to disputing it in May. I got some great advice on the forums last week about what to do with it as well but hadn't gotten around to it yet. However, I just pulled my credit report from all three CRAs and the Palisades/Verizon is gone. It's actually gone from all three of them and I almost had a heart attack. Maybe that's why my scores went up. But I'm just wondering what the heck happened...not complaining or anything. Just crossing my fingers that it doesn't appear in the next few months. It's just strange though since I didn't dispute it all...

My scores back in May were:
TU  517
EQ 506
EX  564

And now my scores are:
TU  547
EQ 535
EX 566

I also removed myself from 2 cards that I was an AU on. Should that help my score even more?

Re: CA magically disappears

yeah, i wouldn't send anything in on that CA that disappeared,..take it as a blessing

were those AU in good standing with no lates?
if so, it will lower your score
unless they were bad accounts with lates or charge-off, etc

Re: CA magically disappears

The AU accounts are in good standing but had high balances on them.

Re: CA magically disappears

BE CAREFUL!

Palisades does this occasionally - check on a real report, not a 3-in-1 monitoring service like TrueCredit to see if it's really GONE.

My Palisades collection for an ATT Wireless account appears on my TU Report dated 6-22-07 with this notation: "The following item is suppressed pending credit grantor update."

This scares the bejeezus out of me, because I don't know what that means exactly. Are they checking with ATT Wireless? What happens if ATT has purged this account from their system? OR, worse, what happens if they HAVEN'T?!

Any thoughts, moderators or other FICO gurus?

Namaste.

I pulled all three reports from www.myfico.com. I am afraid that it might reappear but if and when that time comes, I'll deal with it. But this was the highlight of my day!

Re: CA magically disappears

Which report(s) did it disappear from?

It disappeared from TransUnion for me, and the only way I was able to see the notation I mentioned previously was that I happened to get a copy of my TU report directly from TU in the mail last week.

Re: CA magically disappears

There have been several posters with Verizon issues over the last week (me being one).  Maybe there was an issue and Verizon is stepping up and clearing.  Just thinking positive thoughts!

Miraculously, it disappeared from all 3! But to be honest, I'm not holding my breath. With my luck, it'll probably reappear. Smiley Sad

I'll try to think positive! I had forgotten to mention that this Verizon account isn't even mine and that's why it startled me when I first saw it on my reports. Did you have the same issue?
