CAN A CHARGED OFF CC BANK ACCOUNT REPORT INFORMATION IF THE ACCOUNT IS SOLD TO A CA?

Hi everyone, Household Bank sold my charge off cc account in Novermber of 2007 to Portfolio Recovery collection agency.  The collection agency was paid off in full 2 months ago although 6 months ago prior to me paying I placed a dispute with EX as there was some errouneous reporting issues on the collection account.  Does Household Bank still have any rights to report information. I am having issues now with all 3 credit bureaurs that I placed a recent dispute with Household Bank (stating consumer disputes account) which is not true I never placed a dispute with Household Bank ever.  On all 3 credit reports credit score has dropped.  Can Household Bank legally report such a comment, when I called Household Bank they denied doing this.  Does anyone think there is any correlation with Portfolio and Household bank. I placed disputes with all 3 agencies what else can I do if all else fails, do I have any legal recourse.  Thanks

If an OC properly did a CO on their account, the CO reporting will remain for 7 1/2 years from the DOFD with them, regardless of how they later disposed of the unpaid debt, or whether you paid the debt to a later CA.
