equifax credit disputes

When someone submits an online dispute with equifax, how does equifax contact the creditor to validate the dispute. Is it done electronically or snail mail or what.Just asking because ive submitted disputes in the past and in as little as a day ive seen changes.

Re: equifax credit disputes

The CRAs rountinely use something called the automomated E-OSCAR dispute resolution process.

That process is conducted by a data entry clerk at the CRA, who simply codes the reason for the dispute, with no supporting documentation that you may have provided.  The creditor, likewise responds electronically back through E-OSCAR.

It is quick and efficient, but substantively meaningless.  So the dispute is almost always verified to the benefit of a simple creditor response.
