Re: CITI GW response

Maybe we truly do just have to try again. Another person GW'd to the same address with success. They posted  in August 07 so I am assuming they sent out the GW in July. I'm gonna try to reword and send again.

Re: CITI GW response

Actually, the link above isn't the same address I sent the last GW to. I sent it to PO BOX 6500 in Knoxville, TN which is the one that is online and shows up on my Credit Reports. The one in the link is PO BOX 6241, in Knoxville, TN. Well I'm going to give it a try. Also the other poster gave a more personal less rigid letter and I'm gonna give that a try. A later poster said their attempt to the same address failed but I'm gonna give it another try.

Re: CITI GW response

I also sent a GW to Citi. I have two cards and they each had one 30 day late pay from 2002.  The address I sent my letter to was: p.o. box 6241 Sioux Falls, SD 57117-6241. The other address I sent my letter to was p.o. box 6003 Hagerstown, MD 21747-6003.

They removed both lates from my reports. Hope you have the same luck.

Re: CITI GW response

Well I originally sent one combined letter for the two cards that was very legal-like with a little bit of personality to PO BOX 6500 but that didn't work. I got some boo boo letter saying that they could not do anything since all of the information is factual and that they were going to notify the CRAs that I was disputing the validity of this debt. Ughhh! Smiley Mad

So this time I took out the matter-of-fact type stuff and cried my heart out through a tale of growing up with low means, being the first person in my family to go to college, having little credit education and getting two cards, my dramatic downfall, and the story of my attempts to overcome and the help that the CCC and my SINGLE mother contributed so that I could become a more educated credit user. Of course that included the tale of my current credit worthiness and how the negative info was not indicative of my current status.
It was a real tear-jerker. I hope they yield to that one. Here is what happened:
Both cards went into default at the same time and they got late so I panicked. It was three months later when mommy realized what I was doing and took control. She spoke to the CCC on my behalf and arranged a payment arrangement. She told me that I had to send her 150 a month and she let the CCC autodeduct $75 a month per card from her bank account. After a year of doing this, they asked me if I wanted to close the cards, I kept one open and closed the other. Both still had balances. Really all I was paying during that first year were fees and interest. Didn't really do anything for the rest of the time but pay the minimums. Now I wish I would have paid them down completly over that time and of course now I know that closing one of them was stupid. Well three months ago I paid in full the one that was closed which led to a CLI on the open one. Smiley Happy I hope to have the balance driven down on the open one in a couple of months.

Oh yeah my defaulting was a few lates that occurred between May and August of 2004. The nerve of them not to GW it!

Re: CITI GW response

Oh ... also and I hope this wasn't too forward but ... I was a little resentful after they sent me the bogus letter so I included this in my GW letter:

"I understand my responsibility in these delinquencies and do not dispute their accuracy; however, I feel you will agree that they do not accurately depict my credit worthiness."

Was this a good idea or was I better off saving the money I spent on the stamped envelope?

Re: CITI GW response

What CITI address are you sending your GW to? I've sent three over the past 5 months and haven't heard word one - no letter saying no, even.

Although my case was a CO accountant that I was looking to get removed via GW, or least reported differently.

CITI was quite nasty when it came to settling my past due account, but I did eventually settle with their outside attorney. When I called CITI to get my old account number so I could send out GW's they didn't even want to do that. I had to find an old check (luckily) with the account number on it and use that in my GWs.

The first address that gave me a reply of no:

Citi Cards
Customer Service
P.O. Box 6500
Sioux Falls, SD 57117

The last address I tried that I haven't gotten a reply from (it's only been like 5 days):
CITIBANK
P.O. Box 6241
Sioux Falls, SD 57117-6241

Also, I mentioned in another post that I spoke to someone at Citi and was told that I shouldn't put my full account number on a GW letter just the last four.
