CLI being reported but . .

Has anyone ever had a CLI reported by the credit bureaus before the card issuer informs you of the increase?  Today I got a notification about my limits being increased right here on myFico, yet I did not request one for any of my cards and one of them I haven't even received yet.

Strange.

Re: CLI being reported but . .

Never seen that one but I have read others seeing it.

Many years ago I called a bank I had a secured card with to inquire if I could increase my deposit for a larger limit and they told me I could go from $500 to $2500 if I sent in a check, so I told them I would do that.  Hadn't gotten around to it but I did get an alert from a monitoring website back then that said my limit was up to $2500 so I logged in and the website still said $500.  I did send that check in, and after they cashed it my limit was raised to $2500, but I never tested it until I saw it because they had a pretty rough overlimit fee...

I just don't want it to be a screw up that gets corrected and then it looks like credit limit was reduced.  Ugh!

Re: CLI being reported but . .

My Nordstrom card was auto increased and I wasn't notified. I received a credit increase alert due to credit monitoring... when I checked my Nordstrom acct online I saw the increase.

Re: CLI being reported but . .

This literally just happened to me! I was just googling this exact thing and ended up right here, it's interesting that it happened to you to right around the same time as me

Mine is an overstock card, I've literally never even used it yet (i was actually a little concerned they might close it on me soon as it's been almost 6 months since I got it, I guess I really do have to buy something now since they gave me some auto-luv lol). Noticed an alert from experian with a CLI notification, went into it and there it was - overstock increased from $250 to $750

I went all through my email, spam folder and everything, but nothing at all from comenity or overstock regarding this, only notifications from various credit monitoring sites about it.

So far it looks legit enough, I'll update this if anything changes for me but I guess we'll both find out soon enough 🤔 I hope we're both in the clear 😸

Re: CLI being reported but . .

Well I called shortly after my original post and Comenity insisted they had not raised any of my limits, which is fine.  But I just thought it was strange.  Maybe the increase is coming later . . .  I have no idea.  LOL

That sucks, I actually just got the letter in the mail from comenity confirming my CLI (it said 'it's been a while - we miss you. Blah blah blah, we've increased your credit limit to $750. Enjoy your new spending power and begin shopping today.') Their wording leads me to believe it could very well have been because I still haven't used my card yet and it's been 6 months, I took it as 'we're giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming you haven't used your card because you want something that costs more than your tiny CL so here's some more money, you better spend it soon or else we're closing your account' lol

The letter confirming it took a while to get to me from when I got the initial alert from my credit monitoring site, so maybe they were wrong and yours will end up coming anyway? I hope so, sending CLI vibes your way ❤
